春の晴天で山麓が寒く山が暖かい。日中は急激に融雪が進む。東尾根では雪庇からのブロック雪崩に注意、いつもより小さいが雪庇はバス並みに重い。モイワボウル標高800m付近からの全層雪崩に注意、斜面上部に亀裂が拡がっている。

今日は2012年4月20日、バックボウル(鉱山の沢)全層雪崩の写真を載せる。撮影はアンヌプリスキーバトロール隊。大沢や鉱山の沢の巨大全層雪崩の発生は標高1000-1100m付近からが多い。これらの雪崩は亀裂の有無、時間に関係なく突然起こる。ニセコの全層雪崩は大量の雪を巻き込むため巨大化しやすく破壊力が大きい。滑走者が危険を理解し、谷を避けて滑る以外事故を防ぐ方法はない。

各山頂ゲートは開けられる。パトロールの意見を聞くこと。立ち入り禁止区域に入ってはならない。

It’s a clear spring day, with the foothills feeling cold while the mountains are warm. Snowmelt is progressing rapidly during the day. On Higashi One, be cautious of block avalanches from cornices; though smaller than usual, the cornices are as heavy as a bus. Be cautious of full-depth avalanches from around the 800-meter elevation at Moiwa Bowl; cracks are spreading across the upper part of the slope.

Today is April 20, 2012. I am posting a photo of a full-depth avalanche in Back Bowl (Kozan-no-Sawa). The photo was taken by the Annupuri Ski Patrol. Massive full-depth avalanches in Osawa and Kozan-no-Sawa most often occur at elevations around 1,000–1,100 m. These avalanches occur suddenly, regardless of the presence of cracks or the time of day. Full-depth avalanches in Niseko tend to become massive and highly destructive because they entrain large amounts of snow. The only way to prevent accidents is for skiers to understand the danger and avoid skiing in the valleys.
