海上風速は落ち始めているが標高800m以上は風が強く視界が悪い。また雪も悪い。スキー場利用者の事故防止のため各山頂ゲートは閉じられる。5番6番は未定。昨日は5番から出た人が迷子になり花園パトロールに救助されている。人が増えれば事故も増える。パトロールはモグラ叩きのように迷子や怪我人の救助を繰り返している。このまま事故が増え続ければ規制は更に強まる。今後、春の全層雪崩の危険が高まる。標高の低いモイワボウルでも過去に大規模な全層雪崩が起こり森林に大きな被害が出ている。今冬の降雪推移から鉱山の沢、アンヌプリ大沢でも3月中旬以降、巨大雪崩の危険が高まる。事故を避けるために谷底にいてはならない。

Wind speed is starting to drop at sea, however above 800m winds are strong and visibility is poor. The snow condition is also poor. To prevent accidents among resort visitors, all peak gates will be closed. Gates 5 & 6 are yet to be determined. Yesterday, a person who left gate 5 got lost and had to be rescued by the Hanazono patrol. More people means more accidents. Patrol are playing whack-a-mole trying to keep everyone safe. Rescuing lost and injured people repeatedly. If the number of accidents continues to increase, regulations will become even stricter. The risk of full-depth avalanches will increase in the spring. Large-scale full-depth avalanches have occurred in past years in Moiwa Bowl, which is at a low altitude, causing significant damage to forests. Due to the snowfall patterns this winter, the risk of massive avalanches will increase from mid-March in Kozan-no-Sawa and Annupuri-Osawa. To avoid accidents, do not stop or wait in the bottom of valleys or gullies.

気温上昇と雨によるコース法面やリフト線下の亀裂崩壊に注意。雨による視界不良と上空の風が強いことから各山頂ゲートは閉じられる。パトロールの指示に従うこと。ロープをくぐってはならない。山は寒暖を繰り返しながら春に移行している。谷の大規模な雪崩の危険が高まっている。多雪地帯のニセコでは風下に発達する雪庇やふきだまりが突然割れて巨大な全層雪崩を起こす。また羊蹄山では低気圧通過後の強い南西の吹雪が大規模な表層雪崩を起こすことがある。雪崩は自然現象でありそこに人がいなければ事故にはならない。知識を過信しないこと。用心が事故を防ぐ。ビーコンの作動を確認すること。ビーコンは自分だけではなく仲間の命も救う。義務ではないが持つことを勧める。

Beware of cracks collapsing across the mountain, including under lift lines, due to the rising temperatures and rain. With the poor visibility from rain and strong winds at the top of the mountain, all peak gates will be closed. Please follow the patrol instructions. Do not duck ropes. The mountain is transitioning into spring, with alternating periods of cold and warm weather. The risk of large-scale avalanches in the valleys is increasing. In Niseko, a heavy snow region, cornices and snowdrifts that develop downwind can suddenly collapse, causing massive full-depth avalanches. Also, on Mt. Yotei, strong southwesterly snowstorms after the passing of a low pressure system can cause large-scale surface avalanches. Avalanches are natural phenomena, and as long as no one is present, no accidents will occur. Don’t be overconfident. Caution prevents accidents. Make sure your beacon is working. A beacon will not only save your own life, but also the lives of your companions. It is not mandatory, but we recommend having one.

等圧線幅広く海上、山ともにおだやか、標高700m以上で霧が出ているが降雪はわずか、顕著な雪庇ふきだまりの発達はなく観測と各データから全体の雪崩リスクは低い。ゲート開閉は未定、視界が良くなれば開けられる。パトロールの指示に従うこと。近年のニセコには様々な人が来るのでゲート開閉は慎重にならざるを得ない。今後、春の全層雪崩の危険が高まる。雪崩走路となる谷底にいてはならない。また宿や山麓への帰路に湯の沢立ち入り禁止区域を通ってはならない。常態化すれば再び事故が起る。衝突、亀裂転落、迷子に用心。

The isobars are wide, calm at sea and on the mountains. Only light snowfall and fog above 700m. Also there is no significant cornice or snowdrift development. Observations and data indicate a low general avalanche risk. Gate opening will be determined when visibility improves. Please follow patrol instructions.Due to the increasing number of visitors to Niseko in recent years, gate opening and closing must be done carefully. The risk of full-depth avalanches in the spring is increasing. Do not wait in the valley bottom, this is an avalanche path. Also, do not pass through the lower part of Yunosawa restricted area on your way back to your lodging. If this becomes a regular occurrence, accidents will occur again. Be careful of collisions, falls into cracks, and getting lost.

高圧帯の中で寒気流入、海上波高は低いが上空は東風が強い。新雪は探してもあまりないが山を歩くには良い。日中は気温が上がり融雪が進む。花園パトロールの報告で東尾根ジャクソンには亀裂が入り亀裂下部の皴の形状から全層雪崩に発展する危険があり注意。今後、山のあちらこちらで亀裂が開き始める。亀裂は上から見えない。滑走に注意。ヒラフ側は風が強い。ゲート開閉はリフト運行による。パトロールの指示に従うこと。全層雪崩はその前兆として斜面に亀裂が生じるので事前に予測できる。しかし亀裂発生と同時に雪崩が起こることもある。過去の例から特に鉱山の沢やアンヌプリ大沢の全層雪崩は突然起こり森を倒し地形を削る。事故を防ぐため谷底にいてはならない。丁寧に圧雪されたゲレンデは滑りやすい。立ち入り禁止区域に雪を求めて入ってはならない。ニセコはコース外滑走の自由を尊重するがその安全をいつも心配している。良い1日を。

Under a high-pressure system, cold air is flowing in; while the wave heights are low, east winds are blowing strong in high elevation. You won’t find much fresh snow even if you look, but it is a good day for a mountain hike. Temperatures will rise during the day, accelerating snowmelt. According to reports from the Hanazono Patrol, a crack has appeared in the “Jackson” area on the East Ridge. Based on the ripples formation below the crack, there is a danger of it developing into a full-depth glide avalanche. Please use caution. From now on, cracks will begin to open in various parts of the mountain. These cracks are often not visible from above; be careful while riding. Winds are strong on the Hirafu side. Gate openings will depend on lift operations; follow the instructions of the ski patrol. Glide avalanches are preceded by cracks on the slope and can therefore be predicted, but sometimes the avalanche occurs the moment the crack forms. Past incidents show that full-depth avalanches in Kozan-no-sawa and Annupuri Osawa occur suddenly, sweeping down trees and scouring the terrain. To prevent accidents, do not stay at the bottom of the gullies. The meticulously groomed runs are fun to ride. Do not enter strictly prohibited areas in search of snow. Niseko respects the freedom of out-of-bounds skiing but is always concerned for your safety. Have a great day.

気圧の傾きなく海上、山ともにおだやか、降雪なし。各山頂ゲートは開けられる。パトロールの指示に従うこと。ロープをくぐってはならない。立ち入り禁止区域を滑ってはならない。南面立ち入り禁止区域では今後、深部層または地表からの大規模な雪崩が起こりやすくなる。水野の沢11番ゲートは右岸側壁からの大規模な岩盤崩壊による雪崩が起こり、谷全体の雪崩の危険が高まっているため閉鎖される。今年は寒暖差が大きく寒気流入による各層の凍結が例年より進んでいる。今後の気温上昇で融解が急速に進めば大規模な雪崩の可能性が高まる。3月10日以降は鉱山の沢、アンヌプリ大沢、見返りの沢など雪崩通路となる谷を滑ってはならない。これらの雪崩は突然起こり谷を一掃する。ニセコは降雪量が多いためか過去に破断面6mを越える全層雪崩が複数回起こり、地形を削り森林に被害を与えている。山は無数のトラックで荒れている。転倒立ち木衝突、骨折に注意。亀裂転落に注意、亀裂は上から見えない。ビーコンはオンか?　あれば仲間の命を救える。義務ではないが持つことを勧める。良い1日を。

The pressure gradient is flat; both sea and mountain are calm with no snowfall. All summit gates will open. Follow the instructions of the ski patrol. Do not duck the ropes. Do not ski in strictly prohibited areas. In the south-facing prohibited zones, large-scale avalanches from deep layers or the ground surface will become increasingly likely. Gate 11 at Mizuno-no-sawa is closed due to a large-scale rockfall-induced avalanche from the right bank sidewall, which has heightened the overall avalanche risk in the valley. This year has seen significant temperature fluctuations, and the freezing of layers due to cold air inflow is more prominent than usual. If rapid melting occurs with future temperature rises, the possibility of a large-scale avalanche will increase sharply. From March 10th onward, do not ski in valleys that serve as avalanche paths, such as Kozan-no-sawa, Annupuri Osawa, and Mikaeri-no-sawa. These avalanches occur suddenly and can sweep the entire valley floor. Due to the heavy snowfall in Niseko, multiple full-depth glide avalanches with crowns exceeding 6m have occurred in the past, scouring the terrain and damaging the forest. The mountain is heavily tracked out. Beware of falls, tree collisions, and bone fractures. Watch out for cracks; they are often invisible from above. Is your beacon on? 高圧帯の北側で上空は西風が強く午前2時を中心に20m/sの突風、降雪は5-10cmだが東側にふきだまりが発達、標高800mノールで最大60cm、朝のうちは刺激で破断しやすく午前中の雪崩リスクはやや高い。各ゲートは時間を遅らせて開けられる見込み。パトロールの指示に従うこと。標高700m以上は風成雪でリセットされているが底当たりする。暴走すれば転んで骨折するので慎重な滑走を。吹きだまりが堆積した谷の側壁では浅い表層雪崩に注意。この情報はスキー場とその周辺の雪崩事故防止のために出されている。ヨーロッパと北米では今年50人以上が雪崩で亡くなっている。ガイドやリーダーは学んだ知識を過信してはならない。知識が誤っていれば今後も事故は起こり続ける。このスポーツに安全はない。良い1日を。

Westerly winds remain strong in high elevation, with gusts reaching 20m/s around 2:00 AM, as the northern edge of a high-pressure system is passing nearby. Although new snowfall is only 5-10cm, wind slabs have developed on eastern slopes, reaching up to 60cm on knolls at 800m. These slabs are prone to fracturing under stimulation this morning; the avalanche risk for the morning is relatively high. Gates are expected to open with a slight delay. Follow the instructions of the ski patrol. Areas above 700m have been reset by wind-blown snow, but you will still hit the firm bottom. Skiing out of control leads to falls and broken bones. Always ride within your limits. Be alert for shallow surface avalanches on gully sidewalls where snowdrifts have accumulated. This information is issued to prevent avalanche accidents within the resort and its surroundings. More than 50 people have died in avalanches in Europe and North America this year. Guides and leaders must not be overconfident in the knowledge they have acquired.  If that knowledge is based on flawed assumptions, accidents will continue to happen. Due to the cold-front passing before dawn, winds have intensified with gale-force southerly winds blasting in areas above 700m. Top lifts and gondola operations are TBD, and all summit gates are expected to remain closed; follow the instructions of the ski patrol. Based on observations, the risk of surface slab avalanches on general slopes is low, except for cornice collapses and block failures on cliff faces. In the low-elevation forests, dead trees are susceptible to falling due to the wind. Use caution in tree-runs such as the Moiwa “O-chan Rescue” and the lower Annupuri Osawa. The mountain has temporarily turned to spring, but it will return to winter tomorrow. Adjust your actions according to the weather. The groomed runs below 700m are in good condition. 太平洋高気圧西側の気圧傾度強く上空は強風、太平洋から暖気流入。山は湿った雪に覆われ標高1000m北側を除き深雪はない。重い雪に板が取られやすいので注意。日中は融雪が進む。沢への転落、スノーブリッジの崩壊に注意。水は冷たい。観測から雪崩リスクは低いが雪庇は崩壊しやすい。突然崩れるので雪庇に近寄ってはならない。雪庇はバス並みに重い。ゲートの開閉は未定、パトロールの指示に従うこと。冬山の危険は雪崩だけではない。山には多くの危険がある。いつも用心を。ニセコルールで定められた立ち入り禁止区域には絶対に入ってはならない。違反が繰り返されれば結果的に規制が強まる。ニセコはコース外滑走の自由を尊重するがルールを守ることがその前提になる。ビーコンはオンか?良い一日を。雪はそのうちに降る。

There is a steep pressure gradient on the west side of the Pacific high pressure system, with strong winds at higher elevations and warm air flowing in from the Pacific. The mountain is covered in wet snow, with nothing deep except on the north side at 1000m. Be careful of getting your skis caught in the heavy snow. Snowmelt will continue during the day. Beware of snow bridges collapsing and falling into creeks. The water is cold. Observations indicate the avalanche risk is low, but cornices are prone to collapse. Do not approach cornices, they can collapse suddenly and are as heavy as a bus. Gate opening times are undecided, please follow the patrols instructions. There are many dangers in the winter mountains other than avalanches. Always be cautious. Never enter strictly off limits areas defined by the Niseko Rules. Repeated violations will result in stricter regulations. Niseko respects the freedom to ski out of bounds, but following the Rules is a prerequisite. Is your beacon on? Have a nice day. 太平洋高気圧の西側で上空は南寄りの強風。新たな降雪はない。昨日は10時に各山頂ゲートが開き延べ3000人が山を滑っているが大きな事故はない。標高1100m以上東側は南西風が強まる見込み、ゲート開閉はリフト運行次第。山頂五色側へは北斜面から早めに西に回り込んで標高1200m付近のチンポコ岩を確認後、五色を目指すと良い。その標高以下だと急な二つの沢をトラバースすることになり、いずれも大規模な雪崩の危険がる。沢の横断は必ず一人ずつ行うこと。朝の観測から雪崩リスクは低いが２次発生型と呼ばれる深部弱層からの雪崩の危険は常にある。グループリーダーやガイドは注意、山は昨日のトラックで荒れている。新雪を求めて立ち入り禁止区域アンベツ、春の滝、湯の沢に入ってはならない。自分は良くても誰かが真似て事故の原因となる。現在ヨーロッパで頻発している雪崩のように、ニセコでは暴風雪が雪崩の原因となることが多い。ここでは吹雪が作るふきだまりの構造的脆弱性からリスク判定を行っている。雪崩は自然現象だが人がいなければ事故は起きない。良い一日を。

We have a Pacific high pressure system to the west and strong southerly winds at higher elevations. No new snowfall. The peak gates opened at 10:00 AM yesterday and 3,000 people skied the mountain with no major accidents. Southwest winds are expected to strengthen above 1100m on the east side of the mountain. Gate opening will depend on lift operation. If you are heading towards Goshiki from the peak, it’s recommended to cut out left from the North Face early, at around 1200m, then head west toward Chinpoko Rock. Then from there, down to Goshiki. Below that elevation, you’ll have to traverse two steep streams, both of which pose a risk of large-scale avalanches. Always cross streams 1 by 1. While this morning’s observations indicated a low avalanche risk, there’s always the risk of avalanches from deeper weak layers, known as secondary avalanches. Group leaders and guides should be careful; the mountain is rough from yesterday’s tracks. Never enter the restricted areas of Anbetsu, Haru no Taki or Yu no Sawa in search of fresh snow. Even if you get lucky, others could follow and have an accident. Like the frequent recent avalanches occurring in Europe, blizzards often cause avalanches in Niseko. Here, risk assessment is based on the structural integrity of snowdrifts created by blizzards. Avalanches are natural phenomena and accidents do not occur without people. Have a nice day.

高圧帯の中で海上、山ともに穏やか、波高は5mから1mへ、風は30m/sから10m以下へ。雪庇ふきだまりの発達が大きく標高800m以上では地形が変化。風が10m前後まで落ちてから12時間経過し、ふきだまりは圧密。標高800mの破断面厚さ50cm、上載に弱線なく安定。朝の観測と評価から雪崩リスクは低下、各山頂ゲートは少し遅れるが開けられる見込み、パトロールの指示に従うこと。

標高1100m南東側の開けた急斜面では深部層からの大規模な雪崩に注意、出れば大きいので谷底にいてはならない。森の中は抵抗のある良い雪が均一に入っているが転倒すると深く重い。スノーシューまたはスキンの携行を。ロープをくぐり安易にコース外に出てはならない。また立ち入り禁止区域は絶対に滑ってはならない。一人の無知な行動が事故を起こす。このスポーツに安全はない。過信せず経験を積み常に用心すること。雪は素晴らしく良い。ビーコンはオンか?　ショベルやプローブはあるか?　ショートロープは持っているか? 　雪は毎日変化する。素晴らしい一日を。

We are under a high-pressure system, sea and mountain are calm. Wave heights are down from 5m to 1m and wind speeds are down from 30m/s to under 10m/s. There has been major cornice and snowdrift development and the terrain is above 800m has changed. Wind speeds have dropped to around 10m/s for about 12hrs now and snowdrifts are consolidating. The fractured surface at 800m is 50cm deep, with no weak layers and stable above that. Based on the morning observations and assessments, the avalanche risk has decreased, and the summit gates are expected to open today, although a little later than usual . Please follow patrol instructions.

Watch out for large avalanches from deeper layers on steep, open slopes on the southeast side at 1,100m. If one happens it will be large, so do not wait in the bottom of valleys or gullies. The snow in the forest is good, consistent with good resistance, but if you fall, it will be deep and heavy. Carry snowshoes or skins. Do not carelessly duck ropes to go off piste. Also, never enter strictly off limits areas. One stupid action can cause accidents. There is no safety in this sport. Don’t be overconfident, gain experience, and always be vigilant.
