海は弱い西風が吹いているが気圧の傾きがゆるく沿岸部の山はおだやか、広く10-25cmの柔らかな雪が積もり、スラブ化の程度は小さく全体の雪崩リスクは低い。冬の面発生表層雪崩は強い吹雪が風下につくるウィンドスラブ(風成雪雪板)が破断して起こる。スラブ化は太陽輻(反)射でも起こるが、事故が悪天候下で多く起こることからニセコでは吹雪などの降雪推移から雪崩の危険を量り情報を提供している。

15年以上にわたり事故が続き、結果的に死亡事故が起きたモイワ10番は閉鎖され、見返り方面への6番はスキー場の安全対策が整うまで閉じられる。ヒラフなど他の山頂ゲートは開けられる。パトロールの指示に従うこと。新たな立ち入り禁止区域の指定は30年ぶりとなる。ニセコは滑走者の自由を尊重するとともに、常にその安全に関心を持ってきた。私たちは利用者の協力なくしてニセコルールが成り立たないことを知っている。ルールへの協力をあらためて強く求める。雪は良いが場所により底当たりする。転倒立ち木衝突、沢への転落に注意。ビーコンはオンか?　ゲートの外はスキー場ではない。

Moiwa base 6am: -7℃, light winds, 15cm new snow. Moiwa 800m: data n/a. Annupuri 1100m: -11.6℃, WSW2.7m/s. Village 1000m: -10.5℃, WSW2.5m/s. Hirafu Hanazono 1000m: SSW3.7m/s, light winds, 15cm new snow. Hanazono 800m: -8.0℃, W3.9m/s. Coastal data: Benkei Cape WNW9m/s, Kamui Cape SW10m/s, 1012hPa, 3.9m waves.

Light westerly winds blowing in from the sea, the pressure gradient is shallow and the coastal mountains are calm. 10-25cm of soft snow has fallen. Slab formation is minimal, and the general avalanche risk is low. Winter surface avalanches occur when wind slabs (wind-generated snow slabs) created during strong snowstorms, break off. While the sun can also cause slab formation, accidents are more likely to occur in bad weather. Niseko assesses avalanche risk based on snowfall trends, such as blizzards, and provides information based on these trends.

Moiwa Gate 10, where a series of accidents, some fatal, over the past 15 years is closed. Also Gate 6 toward Mikaeri is closed until new resort safety measures are in place. All peak gates are expected to be open. Please follow the patrol’s instructions. This is the first time in 30 years that new no-entry zones have been designated. Niseko respects your freedom but must always balance that with safety. We know that Niseko Rules would not be possible without everyone’s cooperation and we must insist that everyone cooperates. The snow is good, but you may hit rock bottom in some places. Be careful of falling, hitting trees, or falling into creeks. Are your beacons on? Remember, areas outside the gates are not part of the ski resort.
